Software to be used in the model railroad hobby.

 

This chapter is about various software applications that I use within my hobby.

Icollecttrains:

To keep track of my model railroad train collection I use Icollecttrains, which is an well designed collection database with endless possibilities. Not only for model trains but any kind of collection like dolls, cars, coins, stamps... you name it. Check it out, this software is also available in the English language. Download a trial version now, the purchase price is small compared to the benefits.

Koploper:

The software to control the operating of the layout, whether it's manual or fully automatic, is done with this program. Although it's in the Dutch language, similar software should be available in English, or other languages. Best of all this software is free.

MRDirect:

The software needed to use a computer to generate the digital code is MRDirect. This program will convert any old computer into a giant digital control center. It controls the locomotives, switches, signals and feedback. All done with this free software which is in the Dutch language, but should also be available somewhere on the internet in English, or other languages.

Right Track:

Atlas Right Track Freeware is a layout planning program. The program allows you to design your dream layout using electronic templates of Atlas O's 21st Century TrackŪ System, Atlas N scale and HO scale Snap-Track and Super-Flex Track, HO True-Track, switches, bridges, turntables, buildings and electrical controls. As mentioned it's freeware.

ExpressSCH and ExpressPCB:

Great software to draw electronic schematics, ExpressSCH, and circuit boards, ExpressPCB. This software is distributed for free by the manufacture, with the hope you order and pay for printed circuit boards.
